Founded in 1954, The Delaware Orchid Society is a 501(C)(5) non-profit educational organization whose purpose is to help people learn about orchids and orchid culture.

Our membership includes novice growers with one or two plants as well as those with private orchid greenhouses. Members live in Delaware and nearby Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. All orchid enthusiasts are welcome. We have regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month except for July and August.

Guests are always welcome!

Membership Benefits

• National and regional speakers share with us their expertise during a program of slides, comments, and question-and-answer sessions.
• A plant show table where members’ flowering orchids can voluntarily be reviewed and commented on by our team of experts.
• All members receive a monthly newsletter (except during July and August) with information about the next meeting’s program, results of the last meeting’s show table, future orchid events, and special events such as planned bus trips and greenhouse tours.
• Our annual orchid auction is held in the spring. Members and guests are able to bid on a large variety of orchids at this auction.
• Our June meeting is our catered Annual Banquet.
• Members are encouraged to participate in designing and setting up orchid displays at local orchid shows, bus trips to orchid events, greenhouse tours, and free workshops on orchid culture.
• Members receive an updated Membership List in January of each year.
• Frequent door prizes… who doesn’t like free plants!
